Level 3 Checkpoint
Confirm that staff lines, spaces, treble anchors, bass anchors, and middle C are connected.
Identify the clef
Start each note by naming the clef. A line or space has different letter names in treble and bass.
Use the nearest anchor
For each note, choose a known reference and count from there. This is faster and more accurate than memorizing isolated dots.
Guided walkthrough
Prove that clef, staff position, and keyboard location are connected.
- 1Name the clef.
- 2Decide line or space.
- 3Use the nearest anchor to find the note.
Try it on the keyboard
Play a mixed treble and bass pattern slowly, naming the clef before each note.
- 1Say treble or bass.
- 2Say line or space.
- 3Play the key only after both choices are clear.
Common mistake
The same vertical position can mean different notes in different clefs.
