Healthy Piano Technique

Build a relaxed playing setup so the hands can move freely and produce an even sound from the first lesson onward.

Tempo estimado:10 min5 / 8

Set up the whole playing chain—from bench to fingertip—so no joint has to hold unnecessary tension.

A fixed wrist may look controlled while forcing the fingers and forearm to work harder than necessary. Your goal for this lesson is clear: Can you repeat the pattern three times with quiet shoulders and a wrist that stays supported but movable?

01

Balanced posture

Sit near the front half of the bench with both feet supported. Let the shoulders hang, keep the wrist in line with the forearm, and move the bench before twisting to reach.

Use the treble example for “Balanced posture” (C4, D4, E4, F4, G4) to plan the physical move before playing: fingering, hand position, attack, or coordination point. Practise only the transition that changes that plan, and stop if the same movement cannot be repeated comfortably.

02

Release after every sound

A key needs weight to go down, but the hand does not need to stay tense. Play one note, notice the sound, then release unnecessary effort before the next note.

03

Healthy Piano Technique at the keyboard

Now take the idea to the keyboard. Play C-D-E-D-C with one finger per key and pause after each pass to check shoulders, wrist, and fingertips.

  1. 1Let both arms hang once before placing the hands.
  2. 2Play the five-note pattern at speaking speed.
  3. 3Reset immediately if the wrist drops or a shoulder rises.
